Soldier Mike O'Reilly
The proof of a true soldier is not in the medals that are worn upon the chest, but the way that they are carefully tucked away. It doesn’t lie in the pride shown for past actions but the way they kindly brush past heroics to inspire others.
As a soldier, Michael O’Reilly has proved his honor in many ways as can be seen in the medals that display upon his dress uniform. Not only does he inspire confidence through a humble courage but he deflects any attempts to consider him more than an ordinary man.
In fact, when asked about his Purple Heart, he spoke courteously and kindly of fellow soldiers that were wounded far worse than he. Out of respect for his friends, he put his medal aside and never wore it. This act of modesty exemplifies the type of person that this man truly is and how he was able to rise through the ranks quickly and honorably.
Michael O’Reilly is far greater than just a leader and friend to his country. This American soldier, husband, father is a true example of how a soldier should act, not for himself but for his fellow Americans.
It is Michael O’Reilly who we are proud to say was brave enough to take our country upon his back and protect the freedoms we hold so dear.
